ARA, the smaller brother of RINJANI (coming soon to NB Audio), reflecting the same design concept. The ARA is a 2-way stand mount speaker kit based on the excellent SATORI drivers 6½″ MW16P Papyrus cone midwoofers and the famous SATORI TW29R Ring-dome tweeter.

ARA is the highest point of Komodo Island in Indonesia and particularly notable as the habitat of the spectacular and mythical komodo dragons. The ARA kit is designed to deliver top level transparent and dynamic sound reproduction.

The ARA’s faceted baffle is specially designed to reduce high frequency diffraction and yield superb imaging qualities. A further 7° reclined cabinet ensures time alignment resulting in sublime staging and pin point placement of instruments.

The cabinet is masterfully crafted from 18 mm MDF with internal bracing to distribute cabinet vibrations and lower sound coloration. Unwanted reflections are minimized by wedge shaped inner rear walls. The ARA has a large rear firing port and high quality speaker terminals on a solid aluminium binding post plate.

Kit Options:

Kits are sold as a pair and are offered in a range of options:

Woofers: Choose which woofers you would like in your kit. Both perform the same, the MW16PNW-4 is simply a white cone version of the woofer.

Options: MW16P-4, MW16PNW-4

Tweeters: Choose which tweeters you would like in your kit. The TW29R-B (black faceplate) and TW29R (silver faceplate) are the non-beryllium versions. The TW29BN-B (black faceplate) and TW29BN (silver faceplate) are the beryllium versions of this kit.

Options: TW29R-B, TW29R, TW29BN-B, TW29BN

Add Fully Assembled Crossover: This option adds a pair of fully assembled crossovers to your kit which includes terminated cabling to connect your drivers and binding posts. Currently only available in the 'non-beryllium' version.

Upgrade to Premium Crossover: Upgrades the assembled crossovers to our premium version with Jantzen Cross Caps (more info below).

Add Premade Cabinet: Adds a premade cabinet which includes everything you need to assemble the speaker including port, binding posts, damping mounting hardware etc. These cabinets are assembled by SB Acoustics.

Crossover Options:

(We currently only offer the assembled crossover for the non-beryllium version. The beryllium version is coming soon)

We offer two crossover options, 'Generic' and 'Premium'. Both use the same Ampaday Inductors and Resistors. The 'Generic' uses Ampaday Poly Caps throughout, while the 'Premium' swaps them for Jantzen Cross Caps. Don't let the 'Generic' name of the entry level crossover fool you, both versions perform near identically in our oscilloscope tests and use components with the same tolerances and materials, making it seriously good value if you’re not fussed about brand names.

Crossovers are fully designed, hand assembled and tested in Australia.
