So, you want to shake the walls but don’t have the space for a subwoofer the size of a small refrigerator? You're in luck! This build is designed to deliver serious bass without taking over your living room—or your wallet.
The plan is simple: a compact, cost-effective subwoofer that won’t require a PhD in woodworking to build. We’re talking a 90-liter enclosure housing the beastly SB Audience 18SW500 driver. A pair of these bad boys will hit over 120dB in room (that’s “please don’t call the cops” levels) with each box fitting on a single 2400x1200mm MDF sheet.
The power? We’re going with the Behringer NX3000D amp because, let’s face it, more power = more fun. Plus, it’s got DSP to tweak those low frequencies until they’re jussssssst right.
The build is straightforward, with butt joints (because who has time for fancy cuts?) and enough bracing to keep it solid. Finish it with a lick of paint and you'll be proudly rattling the gyprock off your walls before you know it.
In short, for under $1,600, you get a pair of subwoofers that punch way above their weight. They're loud, they're deep, and best of all, you built them yourself. Now, if your neighbours start complaining... well, just tell them you’re supporting the local DIY community!

We've since introduced an add-on for this build, offering three alternative 18" subwoofer drivers from SB Audience. One option, in particular, provides a substantial boost in SPL at lower frequencies. For more details and to access additional build plans, click here.
