We’ve recently decided to take a different approach with NB Audio.

Previously, we offered a small range of speaker kits and while they were generally quite popular, one piece of feedback kept coming up: they were expensive… and honestly, we agreed!

Most of the subwoofer kits used 2–3 sheets of MDF which can be bought at your local Bunnings or Mitre 10 for under $200, but once you factor in the time spent CNC cutting, cleaning up parts, packing everything properly, building custom crates/pallets for shipping, and then the actual freight costs (which were substantial given the weight of MDF), even a modest sized kit ended up close to $1,000 shipped, with larger kits often exceeding $1,300+.

At those prices, and considering the amount of work involved behind the scenes, we ultimately decided it no longer made sense for us to continue offering them in that format. Those original kits were also proprietary and only included an assembly guide rather than full drawings or cutting files.

Instead, we’ve decided to move towards offering complete build plans free of charge for customers who purchase the parts through us. These build plans include:

• Assembly guide
• Full set of drawings
• 3D model file (.STEP format)
• DXF files ready to send to your local CNC cutter

For those who already have the parts or would prefer to source them elsewhere, the full build plans can be purchased separately for a small fee.

We have a huge catalogue of builds that we've worked on over the years which we'll gradually be putting together full build plans for and releasing here.
