Introducing the RICKSUB-18. A variation of our MORTYSUB-18 but redesigned and retuned to suit not one, but two of our most popular subwoofer drivers, the SB Audience 18SW450. 

Where the MORTYSUB-18 is built for deep bass extension, the RICKSUB-18 is all about raw SPL. From 35Hz and up, it can deliver up to 10dB+ more output than the MORTYSUB-18, thanks to its ultra-high sensitivity drivers. Since the decibel scale is logarithmic, a 10dB increase is perceived as twice as loud, making the RICKSUB-18 a powerhouse right where most movie content focuses it's LFE track.

The outer dimensions of the enclosure itself are identical to our MORTYSUB-18 but we do pick up an extra 24L of volume with the smaller port resulting in a net enclosure volume of 237L.

The result is a subwoofer that in room, will exceed 125db+ at 35hz when combined with an adequately powered amplifier (2500w+) and DSP.

This kit is provided in a flat pack and requires assembly.

Thanks to interlocking braces and pre-cut slots for the majority of internal panels, assembly is straightforward, even for less experienced woodworkers or speaker builders.

This is a passive subwoofer kit so you will need an external amplifier and we highly recommend one with DSP to get the most out of your kit. The most common options are:

• Behringer NX Series
• Crown XTI Series
  

Alternatively, you can use an amplifier without DSP combined with an external DSP device such as a MiniDSP.

It’s important to note that while the RICKSUB-18 uses 8-ohm drivers, they are wired in parallel for maximum performance, resulting in a minimum impedance of 2.7 ohms. Because of this, we recommend using a 2-ohm stable amplifier. Alternatively, you can use a stereo amplifier to power each driver separately. We do not recommend wiring the drivers in series, as this will significantly reduce performance. The RICKSUB-18 includes dual binding posts to support flexible wiring configurations.

Due to the design of the port and bracing, this Subwoofer Kit does not typically suit a plate amp. We do intend on doing a version to suit our NB Audio NPA range of plates once these have been released.

This kit does not include damping material. If you do wish to use it, we recommend 300gsm+ polyester wadding.

Unfortunately, due to the wide variation in delivery locations and address types, we can't provide accurate shipping costs at checkout without investing in costly plugins for our e-commerce platform.

Instead, once you place your order, we'll email you a shipping quote based on the delivery address you provided. Your order will only proceed once you've approved and paid this quote.

Important: You won’t be charged for your kit until you accept the shipping quote.

While we do require your card details at checkout, no funds are taken right away. We've set up our system so that payment is only captured once you've confirmed the shipping cost. If you choose not to proceed after receiving the quote, no payment will be processed, and no refund will be necessary as nothing was charged.

Shipping Dimensions/Information:

This kit is shipped on one pallet which excludes the drivers. The drivers will be shipped directly from the distributor. The cost to ship the driver is included in the kit price.
