Collection: Hire Equipment

When it comes to DIY speaker building, using measurement equipment like the Dayton UMM-6 USB measurement microphone and the Dayton DATS V3 impedance tester is essential for achieving high-quality results. The UMM-6 provides accurate frequency response measurements, ensuring your speakers produce a balanced and accurate sound across all frequencies. The DATS V3, on the other hand, allows you to precisely measure the electrical characteristics of your drivers, such as impedance and resonance frequency.

Together, these tools enable you to optimize crossover design, match drivers, and fine-tune your speaker system, leading to superior sound performance. Without proper measurement, even the best components can fail to deliver their full potential, making these tools indispensable for any serious DIY audio enthusiast.

We know that getting all the right equipment for speaker design can be expensive, especially if you’re just starting out and aren’t sure if this is a hobby you’ll stick with. The cost of buying professional-grade measurement tools can be a big hurdle, making it hard to dive into DIY audio with confidence. That’s why we offer the option to hire out our equipment. By renting tools like the Dayton UMM-6 and DATS V3, you can explore speaker building without the hefty upfront investment. It’s a more affordable way to get the accuracy you need, if you're not sure if it's a hobby you'll commit to.

Here’s how it works: It’s pretty straightforward! You can rent the equipment for anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks, or even longer if needed. We’ll ship it out to you, you use it for your project, and then send it back when you’re done. We do require a deposit equal to the value of the equipment, just to cover any potential loss or damage. This amount is refunded in full once we receive the equipment back, in working order.

You can rent just the UMM-6 mic, just the DATS system, or both together at a discounted rate. While we don’t include detailed instructions, we recommend doing a bit of research before you get started. We’re also happy to offer some general tips if you need a hand.

As for software, you’ll need to download the DATS system software from the Dayton website. We also suggest using programs like REW to analyse your measurements.
